Daylight Solutions Wins 2014 IBO Industrial Design Bronze Award

Los Angeles, CA  Instrument Business Outlook (IBO) today announced the winners of the annual IBO Design Awards for excellence in the industrial design of analytical instruments, portable analytical instruments and laboratory equipment. The winners of the 2014 Awards demonstrate how industrial design can improve a products functionality and the end-users experience. The winners are:

Analytical Instrument Industrial Design 
Gold Award: Shimadzu’s EDX-7000/8000 ED-XRF spectrometer
Silver Award: ProteinSimple’s Wes Simple Western system
Bronze Award: Daylight Solutions’ Spero IR microscopy platform

Portable Analytical Instrument Industrial Design 
Gold Award: 908 Devices’ M908 HPMS system
Silver Award: Smiths Detection’s ACE-ID Raman system
Bronze Award: Rigaku’s Progeny Raman analyzer

Laboratory Equipment Industrial Design
Gold Award: ELGA’s PURELAB Chorus laboratory water system
Silver Award: Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Thermo Scientific VersaCool refrigerated circulating bath
Bronze Award: hta’s HT4000L HPLC autosampler

To have been eligible for a Design Award, a product must have begun shipping between August 2013 and July 2014. Award candidates are chosen from the new products that IBO monitors through trade shows, trade publications, press releases and the Internet. Award winners are selected solely based on their industrial design, not on technical capabilities or performance. Criteria include innovation, aesthetics, functionality and features.
