San Diego, CA (January 21, 2011) Daylight Solutions, Inc., a leading manufacturer of advanced molecular detection, imaging, and high power illumination solutions, reported today that their JammIRâ¢ laser systems have recently completed several successful flight tests onboard U.S. military helicopter platforms.
Daylight Solutionsâ JammIRâ¢ family of high-power, multi-wavelength laser systems have been environmentally ruggedized to operate in the extreme conditions imposed by military rotary and fixed wing aircraft. These commercially available products have been demonstrated for a wide range of applications, including chemical imaging, wide area illumination, standoff detection, gas imaging, and infrared countermeasures (IRCM).
The JammIRâ¢ Series A products have an optional integrated fiber-optic switch inside the laser, to direct its multi-Watt output to any one of up to six (6) output ports in less than 0.1 seconds. The JammIRâ¢ Series B products offer multi-Watt, multi-wavelength output in a lightweight, conformal package. Both product series have been independently validated during Government-witnessed flight testing, to satisfy requirements for the protection of military aircraft from man-portable shoulder fired surface-to-air missiles (i.e. âMANPADSâ).

The JammIRâ¢ Series products are configurable with up to 8 different wavelengths. Near diffraction-limited beam quality is available for those applications requiring less than four (4) wavelengths. Output from the laser can be delivered into free space, or using ruggedized fiber-optic cable from Daylight.
