Mar 12, 2012 – New Laser System Targets Commercial Markets for Measuring Mixed Hydrocarbons
Mar 12, 2012 Orlando, FL – Daylight Solutions, the leading global provider of Mid IR detection and imaging solutions, announced today at the PITTCON Conference and Exposition the introduction of the new TLS-41032 external cavity laser. The TLS-41032 offers over 200 cm-1 of tunability with wavelength coverage in the 3.25 μm (3,080 cm-1) region of the mid-infrared spectrum. Customers will be able to embed this laser into a range of sensor products targeted at industrial monitoring, process control, Process Analytical Technology (PAT), environmental and safety applications.
The new product from Daylight Solutions will provide increased performance in spectral brightness, tuning range and power at this critical wavelength. The center wavelength matches the fundamental C-H stretching vibrational mode, allowing it to be used to measure most hydrocarbons. The broad tuning range inherent in external cavity technology enables the successful analysis of multi-component samples where blended absorption features or broad backgrounds can produce ambiguous results when using Distributed Feedback (DFB) devices with limited tuning ranges.
“This product introduction will enable new instruments in the petrochemical and environmental industries to detect and discriminate a wide range of molecules based on their unique spectral signatures at these wavelengths” says Sr. Director of Commercial Products, Dr. Bob Shine.
“Adding new wavelengths and increased laser performance targeted at key industrial applications is part of Daylight Solutions’ core strategy to bring mid-infrared solutions to a range of commercial markets,” adds CEO & CTO Dr. Tim Day.
Daylight Solutions develops and manufactures molecular detection and imaging systems for use in industrial process controls, scientific research, medical diagnostics, environmental monitoring, and defense applications. The company is the world leader in high power, multi-wavelength lasers in the mid-infrared, and offers a line of broadly tunable and fixed wavelength laser sources. The company also develops miniature sensors based on mid-infrared spectroscopy. .
