Through this agreement, Repligen will assume responsibility for the commercialization of Culpeo®, as well as the development of future products and technologies in partnership with DRS Daylight Solutions (“Daylight”). Both companies will focus on expanding the portfolio of Quantum Cascade Laser mid-IR (QCL-IR) based solutions and integrating these solutions into Repligen Chromatography and Filtration systems to expand the companies’ presence in the fast-growing Process Analytics Technology (PAT) segment of the bioprocessing market.

ARLINGTON, VA, JULY 30, 2019  ̶  Leonardo DRS announced today that its DRS Daylight Solutions business has opened a new state-of-the-art facility in San Diego in response to its growth since becoming part of the company in 2017.

A ceremony on Tuesday highlighted the new facility and was attended by federal, local and company leaders, including U.S. Representative Scott Peters and Dr. Timothy Day, senior vice president and general manager of the DRS Daylight Solutions business unit, among others.

SAN DIEGO–DRS Daylight Solutions is pleased to announce the addition of a new high-power tunable Quantum Cascade Laser (QCL) spanning 3.3 to 3.8 µm and covering the essential C-H stretch molecular vibration band. This development follows the recent addition of a 13 µm QCL which together extend the range of Daylight’s tunable laser offerings from 3.3 µm to 13.7 µm. The new QCL sources can be used in either the single Hedgehog™ laser or as one of the modules in the MIRcat-QT™ laser system.

SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Daylight Solutions announced today that the acquisition of the company by Leonardo DRS (formerly DRS technologies) was completed on June 23rd after receipt of final regulatory approvals. Daylight signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by DRS back in March, after Daylight’s stockholders approved the $150m acquisition.

Leonardo DRS Expands in San Diego Area in Response to Growth

ARLINGTON, VA, JULY 30, 2019  ̶  Leonardo DRS announced today that its DRS Daylight Solutions business has opened a new state-of-the-art facility in San Diego in response to its growth since becoming part of the company in 2017.

A ceremony on Tuesday highlighted the new facility and was attended by federal, local and company leaders, including U.S. Representative Scott Peters and Dr. Timothy Day, senior vice president and general manager of the DRS Daylight Solutions business unit, among others.

To accommodate the speed of growth, the three-story, 67,792 square-foot building provides approximately 50% more space than the previous facility, including 71% more lab space, 60% more warehouse space and 60% more office space for engineers and staff.   This added space is necessary to accommodate the growing demand for our expanding line of laser-based products.

DRS Daylight Solutions Announces Expansion of Its Tunable QCL Wavelength Offerings Down to 3.3 µm

SAN DIEGO–DRS Daylight Solutions is pleased to announce the addition of a new high-power tunable Quantum Cascade Laser (QCL) spanning 3.3 to 3.8 µm and covering the essential C-H stretch molecular vibration band. This development follows the recent addition of a 13 µm QCL which together extend the range of Daylight’s tunable laser offerings from 3.3 µm to 13.7 µm. The new QCL sources can be used in either the single Hedgehog™ laser or as one of the modules in the MIRcat-QT™ laser system.

Daylight Solutions Announces the Completion of Its Acquisition by Leonardo DRS

SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Daylight Solutions announced today that the acquisition of the company by Leonardo DRS (formerly DRS technologies) was completed on June 23rd after receipt of final regulatory approvals. Daylight signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by DRS back in March, after Daylight’s stockholders approved the $150m acquisition.

Daylight will operate as one of eight Leonardo DRS lines of business, and will maintain its current management and location in San Diego. All three co-founders, Dr. Timothy Day, Paul Larson and Sam Crivello will remain with Leonardo DRS. The transaction has been devised to be essentially transparent to Daylight’s current customers and supply chain partners. All of Daylight’s current contracts will continue to be executed without change.

Daylight Solutions was represented in the transaction by the legal firm of Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP. Mooreland Partners acted as the company’s bankers for the transaction.

Daylight Solutions Wins 2006 PhAST/LFW First Innovation Award

The 2006 PhAST/Laser Focus World Innovation Awards program is designed to honor the most timely, groundbreaking products in the field of laser science. The awards are sponsored by Laser Focus Worldmagazine and PhAST-the Photonic Applications, Systems and Technologies conference, which is collocated with the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO) and the Quantum Electronics and Laser Science Conference (QELS), or CLEO/QELS, all managed by the Optical Society of America (Washington, D.C.).

Innovation Award entrants were challenged to show how their application, service, or product (launched between March 2005 and March 2006) met several key criteria, including significant impact to the photonics industry, overall excellent functionality and long life expectancy, secure patent position, and above all, an exceptional level of innovation.

Daylight Solutions was recognized for its mid-infrared solutions, including the development of high-volume, commercially viable, mid-IR laser sources based on quantum-cascade (QC) lasers. Although it has been known for decades that the mid-IR spectral region between 4 and 12 µm holds the key to important discoveries in molecular detection and imaging, the lack of high-performance, affordable mid-IR laser sources and detectors has stymied commercial efforts.
