Overview
Detection of molecular species is a prevalent requirement throughout industrial market. Efforts to reduce costs, improve product quality and protect workers all require instrumentation for measuring target molecules.
In process petrochemical applications, the ability to monitor a variety of molecules in real-time is critical to optimizing mixtures and maintaining high product quality. Use of gas sensors in combustion processes likewise can be used to optimize mixtures and conserve costly fuel supplies. Monitoring for contaminants in natural gas pipelines and food and beverage manufacturing is critical to meet and comply with quality control industry standards. Finally, workers in some industrial or mining environments need the capability to monitor their exposure levels in the presence of toxic gases in order to meet stringent safety standards.
Daylight Solutions’ sensors are based on a patented combination of quantum cascade gain media and the company’s External Cavity Quantum Cascade Laser (ECqcL™) technology. This allows accurate detection and identification of nearly every molecule of interest in industrial monitoring. Whether the molecules have broad “fingerprints” or narrow spectral features, Daylight Solutions’ sensor technology can rapidly and accurately identify trace molecules, even in the presence of complex, dynamic backgrounds.
Daylight Solutions develops OEM “sensor engines,” as well as complete sensor systems based on mid-infrared technology. Our sensors consist of three main subsystems; a mid-infrared laser source, a low noise detector, and a gas handling apparatus designed for a specific application. Because our technology includes both broadly tunable and fixed wavelength laser sources, we can detect a wide range of molecules with excellent sensitivity and accuracy. Our sensor engines allow our customers to achieve “Best of Breed” status in their respective markets. Because we cover the entire spectrum from 3.2 to 14 µm, we can detect nearly every molecule of interest to industrial monitoring.
